Aces-Star often receives questions on how to prepare for the lab examination, what sort of materials to use etc. We hope that the below study plan is useful for you.

Disclaimer: This mentoring service will not guarantee you a 100% pass in the CCIE R&S examination. The methods that we used might be different from what others recommend. This approach was used by Aces-Star Technology staffs and it may or may not work for you. The below study plan is an original work by Aces-Star Technology.

Phrase 1 – Learning the individual network technologies

Firstly, the candidate will solidify their understanding of various network technologies. He will either read books or go through the Internetwork Expert Advance Technology Class by technologies. Once that is done, he will then proceed to doing hands on lab with Internetwork Expert (IE) Volume 1 workbook. If the candidate feels he needs more practice with the topic, he can then proceed to doing the Soup to Nuts Workbook. This is to ensure that candidate is fully confident of various networking technologies before he moves on to 8 hours multi-protocol labs. Once all the technology focused labs are completed, he will then proceed to doing IE R&S Volume 2 lab 1. If the candidate scores well and he feels confident enough, he will then proceed to phrase 2.

Phrase 2 – Integrating the technologies together

Note: If the candidate wishes to build up his layer 2 and 3 skills only, he can choose to do IE R&S Volume 3.
Now, the candidate will move on to the most challenging portion of the preparation of the CCIE R&S. Perseverance & fighting spirit is very important here. Doing the 8 hours labs is very tough & mentally exhausting. Aces-Star recommends him to do the IE R&S Volume 2 workbook in order – from lab 1 to 20.
If a candidate feels he need more practice, we recommend that he do the IE R&S Volume 2 again to solidify their understanding. Buying another vendor workbook is acceptable as well and we recommend NetMasterClass workbook.
Once he feels confident, he can register for the CCIE Assessor lab which will give him a feel of the lab examination – the format, the way they structured the questions. Do not be surprise that your assessor or the real lab is easier than IE Volume 2 workbook.

Phrase 3 – Attempting the lab

Finally, it’s time to try out the real CCIE lab examination. Most of the time, you’ll receive the results within 1 business day for R&S. Go to the CCIE website to check your result. If you pass, congratulations to you. However, if you fail, no worries about it. Most people take the lab examination multiple times before obtaining their CCIE number. We’re sure you’ll learn something during your lab. Brush up on your weak points and try again!
